Turning Point Criminal Justice Tenancy Sustainment Service
Integration Housing & Homelessness Community Justice
Description
The overall objective of the Service is to support men and women within the justice system to successfully reintegrate into the community and to reduce the risk of repeat offending and homelessness. In order to achieve this as a service we aim to provide a person-centred approach that assists people to develop the necessary tenancy sustainment skills to live independently in temporary accommodation and ease the transition to their own secure tenancy in the future. We aim to support individuals to address any underlying causes of the offending behaviour such as mental health issues or problematic drug and/or alcohol use. In order to provide this support, it is vital that the service works closely with key partners such as Criminal Justice Social Work, Police Scotland, Scottish Prison Service, Homeless Casework Teams and Addiction Services. As part of the team we have two peer support workers who draw on their own experiences to provide insight and understanding to support people to overcome their own challenges. We work in a trauma informed way to support people to develop a sense of belonging in the community and be active citizens by providing opportunities for local inclusion, education, TPS Connects, and our Citizenship approach helps people engage in meaningful activity to build confidence and resilience.
