The Guru Nanak Gurdwara on Otago Street was founded in 1969, making it one of the first Gurdwaras in Glasgow and Scotland. The Gurdwara was set up to cater to the growing Sikh population in the city. Guru Nanak Gurdwara is situated in the West End of Glasgow, a lively and diverse area that is home to students, families, and a wide range of cultural communities as well as near other landmarks such as the University of Glasgow, Kelvingrove Park and the Kelvinbridge subway station. The Gurdwara's foundation was built upon the principles of equality, community service (Seva), and the teachings of Guru Nanak. Guru Nanak Gurdwara Glasgow is not only a spiritual center for Sikhs in Glasgow it also welcomes everyone, regardless of faith, for both worship and to experience Sikh culture ensuring that the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Whether you're looking to learn more about Sikhi, seeking spiritual solace, or simply wanting to experience the warmth of the Sikh community, this Gurdwara offers a space for reflection, worship, and connection. The Gurdwara plays an important role not only as a place of worship but also as a hub for the social and cultural activities of Glasgow’s community. During Lockdown, the Gurdwara was utilised as a base to help deliver over 80,000 food parcels to vulnerable families across Scotland through the Sikh Foodbank. Charity Number: SC013958
