Description
The Marie Trust is a frontline homeless charity in Merchant City, Glasgow that delivers a holistic approach to tackling poverty and trauma and the challenges people who experience homelessness face in accessing the services they need to heal, keep safe and to move away from homelessness.
We do this through the delivery of the following services:
Crisis Intervention Service: a housing and social welfare advice service providing representation and advocacy for housing, benefits, food and fuel poverty, connecting people with mental health, addiction and NHS services and connecting people with community resources. This service operates a direct access, no formal referral or appointment is needed, people can literally walk in off the streets and access the service.
Hospital Outreach Service for patients in Glasgow hospitals to access immediate housing and welfare support for homeless patients whilst still on the wards and following their care into the community, significantly reducing hospital readmissions and rough sleeping.
Counselling and Psychotherapy service for people who experience trauma (including addiction counselling) that greatly impacts their adult lives.
Education Service providing social subjects and creative arts as a route to further education and employment, delivering subjects up till SCQF level 6.
Digital Literacy Project for individuals at risk of drug related harm to teach literacy and digital skills.
Healthy Living Café & Barista providing free and subsidised menus daily.
Training Kitchen, led by our head chef and volunteers feeding up to 100 people each day. All food is cooked from scratch, no salt, sugars or preservatives in any of the meals we make.
