Glasgow Initiative of Facilitation & Therapy (GIFT)
my community mental health arts & creativity
Description
The Glasgow Initiative of Facilitation & Therapy creates safe spaces for children and young people to communicate their thoughts and feelings through engagement in art, music and drama. The GIFT team is made up of HCPC registered arts therapists and professional artists. We bring together arts therapies and creative facilitation to create a unique person centred support service. Arts therapies are forms of psychotherapy which use art, drama and music as their primary mode of communication. They give the client the opportunity to use art materials, play, improvisation and music to express how they are feeling when they find it hard to do so in words. Creative facilitation is a discipline which utilises the positive power of expressive arts as a tool for improving health and wellbeing. Through participation in visual arts, dance, music, drama or writing everyone can explore their creativity in a safe space to build personal resilience and grow a life they love living within a community they feel connected to.
