Description
Our Story Geeza Break, founded in 1992, emerged during a time of significant transformation in Glasgow. As communities were evolving and residents were relocating to newly developed areas, a group of dedicated individuals from Glasgow's East End recognized the need for community-based support and nurturing respite. Their goal was clear: to assist families affected by the city's regeneration, families who found themselves separated across different parts of Glasgow. Traditionally, extended families had been the primary source of support and respite, but these changing circumstances created a void that Geeza Break was determined to fill. The organization stepped in as an extended community, providing a helping hand and a supportive network. However, as Glasgow continued to transform, new challenges emerged—most notably, issues related to drug abuse and poverty. Geeza Break recognized that these challenges were affecting families in the Northeast of the city and took on a larger role. Over the years, the organization has grown and adapted to better serve the needs of the community. Today, Geeza Break is more than just a support network. It's a lifeline for families facing various challenges, and it continues to evolve to meet the ever-changing needs of Glasgow's Northeast communities. Through meaningful partnerships with social work and addiction services, Geeza Break offers intermediatory, non-judgmental support to ensure families stay together and emerge from their trials even stronger. Our Mission At Geeza Break, our mission is to provide holistic, nurturing, and relationship-based family support. We are dedicated to helping every child and young person reach their full potential. Our approach focuses on individual and family assets, collaboration, and a commitment to reducing social inequalities. We create a culture where the rights of children and young people are upheld, and their voices are heard and respected. We understand that families come in all shapes and sizes, and we are here to support them. We provide practical and emotional assistance tailored to each family's unique needs, fostering long-term resilience and meaningful change. Our commitment is to keep families together and empower them to positively contribute to their communities throughout their lives. We are empathic and enabling, asking, "What will it take to keep this family together?" and "What can we do to support this family today?" Geeza Break continues to develop and adapt its services collaboratively with stakeholders, building on the successful elements of the current service to provide lasting, positive outcomes for families. Our Future As we look to the future, Geeza Break remains committed to its mission. We aim to grow and expand our reach, touching the lives of even more families in need. Our goal is to continue making a difference, helping families overcome challenges, and promoting a stronger, more vibrant community. Join us on this journey as we work together to build a better future for Glasgow's Northeast.
