Community development is based upon the belief that people can work together to shape their own destiny if given the opportunity to participate in a free, open and non-threatening environment. Community Development is a key priority of Glasgow’s Community Learning and Development plan. It is about supporting people to participate in their communities and to volunteer and be involved in decisions which affect them and the area they live. The Community Empowerment Act means that everyone has a right to a say on decisions that affect their community and the services they receive from public bodies.
