Description
The YPSB support young parents still attending school, from pregnancy through to the early years of their child’s life. They offer ongoing communication to help the young parents adapt to their new circumstances in school.
If it is identified during any of the planning and reviewing processes that the young person is struggling to maintain education, YPSB and the registered school deploys a specialist teacher, who supports the young parent with their education within the YPSB base or another identified location. This flexible and targeted resource allows the young person to continue with their education and adapt to their new circumstances.
In addition to this, there is also a specialist Creative Family Links worker who offers a therapeutic service to the most vulnerable young parents at the Base, providing additional support for the families' mental health and well-being, as well as supporting them to access educational/ work opportunities.
Young parents are supported to adjust to their new role as a parent and signposted to relevant agencies to deal with finance, housing and health.
