Description
If you currently have limited online skills or confidence, Glasgow Libraries offer support with making a new claim for Universal Credit, from opening a Universal Credit account, and setting up an email address to receiving your first full payment. We can also help with the ongoing maintenance and management of your claim whilst supporting you to access digital learning opportunities and more. Our advisors can help you to:
• set up your Universal Credit account
• complete your claim to do list
• verify your identity
• make sure you are providing the evidence to the Jobcentre
• understand what Universal credit will mean for you.
In addition to this we can take you through our Holistic Needs Assessment (HNA) which gives you the chance to think about your concerns and discuss possible solutions. It is called ‘holistic’ because the assessment looks at needs or concerns you may have about any area of your life. We use this information and with your agreement forward your details onto specialists in that area. Areas include.
• Digital training: We offer free, supported, and accredited learning courses.
• Employment advice: Jobs & Business Glasgow employment advisors are co-located within our libraries.
• Benefit Advice: Housing Benefit, Council Tax Reduction, Scottish Welfare Fund and Discretionary Housing Payments.
• Debt and Financial inclusion advice: direct referral to partner agencies based within our libraries such as Citizens Advice Bureau.
• Advice on accessing local Foodbanks.
• Follow-up sessions to support you as you progress towards work (if applicable).
• Adult Learning: ESOL classes and support
